Will the government please come forward on Waste Management and provide answers to the people?

>PHILIPSBURG:---- While residents throughout St. Maarten were anxiously following the developments with TS Erika last week, another outcry came from those persons affected by the recent fire on the landfill (dump). The effects, such as the smoke and fumes of this fire could be felt and sensed a great distance away from the Philipsburg area, said Member of Parliament Sarah Wescot Williams.
Understandably, the people of St. Maarten are saying "enough is enough".
"Do they expect miracles? No, they don't. But they are at least entitled to answers from government and those directly responsible for the waste management.
On Friday last, I solicited the support of other members of Parliament to request a meeting of Parliament to obtain answers to questions regarding the landfill and the much talked about Waste-to-Energy system or any other system the government has in mind. I have taken note as well of GEBE's comments on this matter and it gives an eerie feeling that we are heading back to the drawing board. Unless government intends to strong-arm GEBE into doing what it, the government, wants. Who will end up paying the cost? The people of St. Maarten!
By the way, I need the support of at least 2 other members of Parliament to request that Parliament convenes a public meeting on this matter."
