PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - The decision of the Supervisory Board of Directors of N.V. GEBE to Chief Operations Officer (COO) Mr. Romelio Maduro on inactive duty, is a matter of concern for the National Alliance faction in the Parliament of St. Maarten.

The decision to place Mr. Maduro on inactive duty was announced Thursday by the attorney for the Supervisory Board of Directors Jairo Bloem.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Directors N.V. GEBE Mr. Rene Richardson states that Mr. Maduro has not been legally appointed into any function with N.V. GEBE and consequently does not have any corporate or contractual relationship with the company.

The statement by Mr. Rene Richardson however did not state that the services of Mr. Maduro was terminated or that he was fired neither did it state the motivating reason for the decision of the Supervisory Board of Directors of N.V. GEBE to place him on inactive duty.

It is now expected that the Parliament of St. Maarten will seek clarity on this issue noting that the share holder seemingly has confidence in the work that Mr. Maduro has been doing since taking up the position within GEBE.
