Update #: Statia Police Arrested The Man Who Was Injured On Sunday 1:00Am In Concordia

UPDATE POLICE # 2: Suspect Arrested

ORANJESTAD, St. Eustatius – On Sunday June 25, in the afternoon hours, the police on Sint Eustatius (KPCN) arrested the man who was injured early Sunday morning and transported to the hospital.

The arrest was ordered by the Public Prosecutor BES. He is suspected of involvement in the death of the female victim found.

The investigation in this case continues.

Pond Island:--- TelEm Group’s mobile voice and data provider, TelCell, this week announced major upgrades of key cell sites in the areas of Middle Region, Defiance, Sucker Garden and parts of Guana Bay and Dawn Beach.
As of Friday, June 16, cell sites in the above areas were connected to the company’s fibre optic network and will no longer be connected via Microwave links.

Former National Security Minister Gravely Ill

NASSAU, Bahamas – Former Minister of National Security Dr Bernard Nottage is in a “very troubling and grave state” in the Intensive Care Unit at Doctors Hospital, according to Progressive Liberal Party chairman Bradley Roberts.

In the latest update provided by Roberts, he indicated that doctors were working hard to aid the veteran politician.

Roberts said he remained in contact with the family of Dr Nottage throughout the day Wednesday, but did not say what the 71-year-old was being treated for in hospital.

In a statement to the press earlier in the day, the family of Dr Nottage confirmed that he had been admitted to hospital and asked the public to respect their privacy.

Mlk Hosts Musical And Awards Day Celebration

 

PHILIPSBURG – The students of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Primary School on Wednesday morning, June 21, participated in a musical and awards day celebration.

Students recapped the life values of Peace, Responsibility, Love, Cooperation, Dependability, Tolerance, Respect, Honesty and Unity, which they learned over this school year during the monthly assembly.

“We continue to strongly promote the development of our students socially, emotionally as well as their overall academic performance,” said School Manager Stuart Johnson.

The students also showcased and highlighted several local musical icons such as King Beau Beau, Calypso Barbara, The Mighty Dow and King Vers.

“It was surely a moment of true pride to see our students being recognized for their hard work and commitment over this school year,” Johnson said.

Students received awards in Language Arts, Mathematics, Dutch Language, Music, Sports, Most Helpful, Most Improved and the Principal’s Award.

What Will Parliament Do With All The Reports?

Last week, yet another annual report was added to the long list of reports that Parliament has in its possession.

The General Audit Chamber, one of the High Councils of State, submitted for the seventh time, its annual report in both the Dutch and English languages. Hence, Members of Parliament, who are not versed in the Dutch language have no excuse about not being able to read or understand the Chamber’s annual report.

She said the department of legal affairs gave a number of advice as they look to tighten the policy.
