Positive Cases Up By One For Dutch Side

PHILIPSBURG--The number of positive coronavirus COVID-19 cases in Dutch St. Maarten went up by one on Tuesday, bringing the total number of positive cases to 53 and active cases to 39.

According to figures from Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs, as of April 14 the total number of persons in self-quarantine stood at 90; 161 in self-isolation; and 161 tested, of whom 92 are negative, 15 are pending results, one is inconclusive and 53 are positive Read more

Seniors Will Be Able To Shop During First Hour.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Some of the shops that will open their doors on Thursday are supermarkets, pharmacies, gas stations, cooking gas companies, and banks. This is based on the adjusted national decree. While these businesses will be opened as of Thursday the lockdown remains in effect and only persons that need essential items are allowed to leave their homes.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs announced on Tuesday evening that some banks on St. Maarten have agreed to open their doors on Tuesday to allow persons with checks to change those checks.
Those banks that will open are Windwards Island Bank (9 am to 3:30 pm) ORCO Bank, Republic Bank and BCEM (8:30 to 12 noon) and FCIB Bank (8:30 to 1 pm).
Chinese Supermarkets that opened in the various districts that opened their shops on Tuesday were helpful to the community who managed to purchase much-needed items.
The Department of Social Services was able to deliver the 1,500 boxes to the needy, deliveries of the other boxes that were requested will resume at a later date.

Draft 2020 Budget To Com This Week

PHILIPSBURG--The draft 2020 budget is expected to be submitted to the Council of Ministers (COM) this week for approval, Finance Minister Ardwell Irion told The Daily Herald on Monday.
