Author Loekie Morales To Be Featured In Curacao Storybook

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten CuracaosBibliotekaNashonalKorsou(BNK)library has selected a story bySintMaarten-based childrens author Loekie Morales for inclusion in its new 15-story compilation for 2021.

When I learned from BNK that my work would be included in their prestigious storybook, I was super-happy, said Morales, whose Beyond KulturaFoundation launched its own anthology, Captured by Corona, In March 2021. 

The theme of this years book is What I Would Like ToBe. Authors were asked to write about a child in Curaao who is choosing a profession.

The purpose of the informative session during the second staff meeting for this month was to apprise them of the COVID-19 vaccine program.

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – The Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labour, the Honourable Richard Panneflek, recently met with the newly appointed Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Decent Work Team and Office for the Caribbean, Mr. Dennis Zulu, and his support staff.

Minister Pannefleks discussions centered around the impact of COVID-19 on the labour market, the measures taken by the government of Sint Maarten to mitigate the spread, as well as the stimulus plan to assist those affected.

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten  As part of the countrys economic recovery efforts, representatives of the Ministries of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications (Ministry TEATT) and the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labour (Ministry VSA), recently held a virtual meeting with a majority of the tourism industrys stakeholders to discuss how to further profile the importance of the countrysvaccination campaign, the latter, seen as a key instrument in the further economic recovery of the nation. 

The goal is to vaccinate at least 70% of the local population by June 1st in order to achieve what epidemiologists refer to as herd immunity, i.e., where a sufficient number of people in a community become immune to an infectious disease.
