Supermarket Robber Arrested In St. Martin

PHILIPSBURG/MARIGOT--Star Ocean Supermarket in Dutch Quarter and Wing Li Supermarket in Middle Region were robbed on Wednesday afternoon by a man brandishing a firearm. In both cases the culprit fled on a scooter after the robbery, according to acting police spokesman Inspector Steven Carty.

PHILIPSBURG--Oliver Arrindell, the father of a son, who is a year and seven months old, has accused Social Health Insurances SZV of dragging its feet on the referral of his son to the Netherlands for various forms of therapy to recover from a condition he suffered at birth.

Man Dies In Road Accident

SUCKER GARDEN--One man is dead after a freak accident on Sucker Garden Road on Wednesday morning close to 2:00am. The driver was heading to Oyster Pond Road when he lost control of his Suzuki Vitara and flipped over on the side of the street. The man died moments after the incident and was identified as a French side resident known as “Carlos”. Emergency personnel rushed to the scene and cut out the driver with the Jaws of Life. Motion Tabled To Aid In Avoidance Of Criminal Prosecution For Back Taxes

PHILIPSBURG--Government has been called on, via a yet-to-be voted on motion from Parliament, to initiate a public campaign to inform the population of the possibilities it has to make use of the tax facilities provided by General Ordinance on Taxes, such as the voluntary disclosure scheme (“Inkeerregeling” in Dutch) on how to avoid criminal prosecution under law.

Foul Play Ruled Out In Case Of Body Floating In Lagoon

PHILIPSBURG--Foul play has been ruled out as the cause of death of the man, whose body was found floating in the Simpson Bay Lagoon on Sunday, December 11, around 9:30am.

The body of the man - a British national named Russell Frank Hodgson, born on November 30, 1945 - was found in the Simpson Bay Lagoon near Pink Iguana Restaurant on the Airport Boulevard. The lifeless body of the man was pulled out of the lagoon with the assistance of the Coast Guard.
