Parliament starts budget handling this Thursday

PHILIPSBURG--Parliament will begin its handling of the draft 2015 budget in a Central Committee as of Thursday from 9:00am in Parliament House. Finance Minister Martin Hassink is expected to make a presentation on the budget to Parliament.

The draft budget stands at some NAf. 445 million with investments and capital expenditures set at some NAf. 111 million.

Members of Parliament received the draft budget on Friday after it was received formally from Governor Eugene Holiday. Hassink also delivered a copy personally to Parliament Chairman Dr. Lloyd Richardson.

The public can attend the meeting at Parliament House. The proceedings can also be followed live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 120, Pearl Radio FM 98.1 and www.pearlfmradio.com. The meetings are also streamed via www.sxmparliament.org, but that site is under construction and is unavailable until further notice.
