MARIGOT: ---Persons from all walks of life throughout the community of Saint Martin aND dignitaries from Sint Martin, Anguilla, St. Barths, aND Guadeloupe gathered at the waterfront in Marigot on Friday to pay their last respects to Mayor Albert Fleming who passed away on June 28th, 2023, at the NDidate' href='/newspolitician/1/louis constant-fleming'>Louis Constant Fleming Hospital.The late Mayor Fleming was described as a patriot, a man for his people, simple aND humble, aND a man who cared for his family aND that of his community. SecoND Vice President of Parliament NDidate' href='/newspolitician/578/william-marlin'>William Marlin said that Fleming served his people for 30 years, 24 of which he was the Mayor of Saint Martin. Marlin said Fleming was a peoples person, one who was very concerned about the two sides of the islaND coming together to work in the best interest of his people.
He called on the current government to revisit the idea of building a road from Concordia to St. Peters, Marlin said that was the vision of the late Mayor aND it is an honor if those in power revisit the idea of completing that road in his honor, while Pastor Hodge called on the President of the Collectivity aND other elected officials on Saint Martin to reSPArty/23/national-alliance'>NAme the waterfront in the SPArty/23/national-alliance'>NAme of the late Mayor Albert Fleming who loved being on the waterfront during his lifetime.Pastor Hodge remiNDed the gathering that Mayor Fleming came from humble beginninSPArty/9/general-solidaire'>GS aND as such he remained humble with a deep concern for the people of St. Martin whom he served.
