Dominican Republic Travel Ban To Be Lifted

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – As per Friday, February 12th, the travel ban put in place to restrict the movements of people traveling from the Dominican Republic to Sint Maarten will be lifted.

The measures were introduced in an effort to prevent the spread of the contagious new variant of Coronavirus by persons coming traveling from the Dominican Republic.

The lifting of the ban was announced Wednesday morning by the Honorable Minister in charge of TEATT, Ludmila de Weever.

While the travel restriction will be lifted, residents traveling from the Latin American country will need to have a negative 72 hours Covid 19 PCR test, before getting on a flight to the island.

The changes that will go into effect are that the flights to the Dominican Republic can remain. The requirement will be that 72 hours PCR testing is required for all passengers and specifically, our residents, the TEATT Minister de Weever said.
