>PHILIPSBURG:--- The Philipsburg Jubilee Library is getting all geared up for Children's Book Week 2014. Between November 16th and November 22nd the library will once again host a spectacular event, focused on the joy of reading and storytelling. This year's theme is "Folktales and Fairytales from around the world ". The main event this year will be the children's play "The Donkey tale", performed by Youth theatre group Bonaire, under the leadership of artist and dramaturge Jackie Bernabela. The library was very happy to be able to collaborate with Ms. Bernabela and her group once again, since the "Donkey tale" was highly appreciated by the little ones during Children's Book Week 2011. The play will be performed in the morning hours during the entire book week in the Cultural Centre.
Children's Book Week 2014 will be launched on Sunday, November 16th, around 4.00 pm, with a swinging mini-parade from the library's parking lot to the Philipsburg Community and Cultural Centre . This parade will be followed up by an opening event in the Cultural Centre. The highlight of the opening events will be the official opening of the book week by Governor Holiday as well as a performance of the children's musical "Anansi and the Great Salt Pond". All children are welcome to participate in this children's book week parade and the opening event!
Other highlights of Children's Book Week 2014 are storytelling afternoons with Papa Umpo and
Dorothy Richardson
and family movie nights. With a great lineup up of exciting events throughout the week, the Children's Book Week of 2014 promises to be a wonderful occasion for all children that cannot be missed.
Please contact Maryland Powell at the library for more details about the Children's Book Week program.
