MARIGOT--President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SEMSAMAR Yawo Nyuiadzi introduced the managing directors of the Manioukani Group, which will be constructing a new follow-up and rehabilitation clinic close to the Louis Constant Fleming Hospital in Concordia.

The directors, Dr. Pierre Sainte-Luce and Dr. Corinne Sainte-Luce gave a presentation of the 12-million-euro project at a press conference in the SEMSAMAR offices Thursday morning, also attended by President of the Collectivit Daniel Gibbs.

Nyuiadzi said SEMSAMAR is very pleased to be supporting the ambitious project, and immediately after the press conference went to a meeting where he signed off on the sale of the land where the clinic will be built.

The future private clinic, to be called Clinique SSR Wataki will have a full hospitalisation unit and a day hospitalisation unit. It is specialised for the treatment of patients following serious injuries and operations. Aside from the benefits for the St. Martin population to be treated there, the project will create many jobs and generate activity in the local construction sector.

Agence Regional de la Sant (ARS) and Caisse Gnrale Securite Sociale (CGSS) have given their blessing to the project.

In the two care units there will be 20 beds for follow-up care in the day hospital and 30 beds in the full hospital unit. The types of employee positions that will be created by the project include occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, nurses, receptionists, special educators and more.

It is envisaged that citizens from St. Maarten, Saba, St. Eustatius and Anguilla will also be able to benefit from the clinic through insurance agreements.

Group Manioukani has 19 years of experience in constructing medical facilities and senior citizen homes in Guadeloupe and owns the Arawak Beach Resort in Le Gosier. The company has 250 employees and an annual turnover of 16 million euros.

Construction is expected to last two years and will begin in the third quarter of this year. The clinic is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2022. The construction permit application will be submitted next week.
