Mosquito fogging to commence Thursday weather permitting

Source: SMN-News 30 Oct 2014 06:23 AM
>GREAT BAY (DCOMM):---  The Collective Preventive Services (CPS), a government agency under the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development & Labour, announced on Wednesday that the country-wide mosquito fogging campaign could not commence as planned on Tuesday, October 28 due to rain and a malfunction of equipment.

In the meantime, the contractor has informed the ministry that fogging will start on Thursday, October 30 weather permitting. The technical problem with the fogging equipment has been resolved.

Minister of Public Health, Social Development & Labour Hon. Cornelius de Weever would like to thank the public for their patience.

Residents must bear in mind that fogging is not a total solution to eliminate mosquitos.

Every household and business are advised to continue taking action by removing potential mosquito breeding spots in and around their premises on a daily basis.

Empty containers should be removed or turned over; motor boats on land should be properly covered or there should be drainage to allow water to flow out rather than accumulating; spouts should be cleaned of leaves; overgrown vegetation should be cut; old tires should be cut up.

Here is the schedule for October 30 and October 31. For the other areas in the different districts, this information will be forthcoming via the Government Information Page (GIP) in both daily papers:
