Mlk Jr. Primary Lifts Technology Ban

~Tablet usage to be encouraged~

DUTCH QUARTER – The school management of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Primary School will be lifting the ban on technology usage for the new school year 2016/2017.

“I have no doubt this new school policy will yield the results I am expecting it to over time,” remarked School Manager of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Primary School Stuart Johnson.

“It’s time we truly have an educational system, which reaches all students, especially in public education inclusive of tapping into their various learning styles. I firmly believe technology is a great tool to assist the classroom teachers and subject teachers while embracing Foundation Based Education (FBE) principles,” Johnson added.

The use of tablets and similar smart devices by students will be strongly encouraged during the next year school as class agreements will further support this venture.

“A strict student usage policy, a parental guide and other safety measures will be implemented to ensure students maximize their learning experience. There are endless learning applications for all our student ages that we can use to assist them or stimulate their interest to learn,” Johnson said.

The school official communication line remains via the school office for parents as WhatsApp and other text applications will be prohibited during school hours.

“I am calling on the business community to support via our Parent Teacher Foundation (PTF) in finalizing our technology center within short, as desired by school management. It’s time we definitely put education as priority number one by equipping both our teachers and our students with the right tools to maximize learning,” Johnson concluded.

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Primary School is a public education school located in the district of Dutch Quarter.
