Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - A new opportunity for higher education is now available for the islands students.
Scholarships have been made available through the I Am SXM, Education for us all Foundation.
The project is the brain child of MP Tamara Leonard who gave an outline of the requirements which are to be met by the students who are desirous of obtaining a scholarship.
The foundation is able to make these scholarships available through funding from the St. Maarten Business Community.
According to Leonard, the Foundation was able to obtain pledges $25,000 in the first five days. This was placed against their target of $100,000 in 60 days.
As part of the overall project a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) was signed with the University of St. Martin which will facilitate a number of the scholarships which are to be provided.
