Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
MARIGOT—The new team Inter Generation Runners captained by Wilfred Sully won Sunday's 9th edition of the Semsamar Inter-Company relay race but did not beat last year's winning time.
Inter Generation were first in 2 hours 9:50, followed by the Gendarmerie team CLSG-Super U in second place in 2:12:45, Avenir Sportif Club Team was third in 2:22:1, Dream of Trails fourth in 2:27:36, and Louis Constant Fleming Hospital fifth in 2:28:22.
The 30K race starting in Lowlands and finishing at La Galion Beach attracted 17 teams. Conspicuous by their absence were 2014 winners SXM Tri Academy who were competing in the Boardwalk Triathlon in Philipsburg.
The Avenir Sportif Club number one team with Sareena Carti led from the start but were overhauled in the final stages by Inter Generation and CLSG-Super U.
This year the race included an all-female team from Clinique Choisy and two teams of tenants from Semsamar residences. New teams in the race included RIE, Pole Emploi, Gitem-Euronics, Dream of Trails, and SXM Fitness.
Profits from the race were handed back to French-side sea rescue SNSM. Race organiser Avenir Sportif Club indicated a misjudgement on their part led to the relay and the triathlon occurring on the same Sunday but assured this would not happen next year.
