Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
MARIGOT--President of the Territorial Council Aline Hanson reminded citizens that the 2014 Income Tax Return forms will be delivered to every household shortly.
"As well as being an administrative formality, paying taxes is a citizen act that directly impacts the future of our territory in terms of implementation of development projects," she said. "The contribution of each one of us to the collective effort enables the achievement of major projects whose objectives serve the general interest. Think in terms of the benefits of Cité Scolaire, rehabilitation of Louis Vanterpool Stadium, street lighting and other infrastructure. This is where your money goes."
She added the Collectivité's tax system is more attractive than that of metropolitan France or other overseas territories and in line with decisions made in previous years the tax rate remains unchanged.
"I therefore invite you to complete your tax return 2014 with the greatest sincerity, and send it to the tax department no later than the June 15 deadline. You will also find on the internet site of the Collectivité forms to print, helpful advice and information, to report the income of 2014."
Citizens are reminded that the tax service of St. Martin (Concordia - Residence Santa Monica) is developing a special provision to help fulfil reporting obligations.
The office will be operational Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 8:00am to 12:00pm and again from 2:00pm to 4:00pm; Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00am to 12:00pm until Monday June 15.
