MAHO:--- (DMF) DOW MUSICAL FOUNDATION and EBONY STEEL ORCHESTRA 25th year annual concert celebration took place on Monday night December 26th, 2016 at Maho Royale Ballroom.

WILLEMSTAD – Balance of payments developments.

According to estimates of the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten, the deficit on the current account of the balance of payments widened in 2016 compared to 2015 as a result of a drop in net exports of goods and services and a worsening of the income balance. By contrast, the current transfers balance improved. The decline in net exports was caused by a decline in exports, mitigated by lower imports.

PHILIPSBURG – Student Jodian McDonald recently completed a 2-week job-placement stint at the reception desk of the new Government building.

The PSVE student, who also worked at the Public Service Center (PSC) branch in Simpson Bay recently, was praised for her outgoing attitude, professionalism, and exceptional work ethics.

Supermarket Robber Arrested In St. Martin

Raising The Bar In Parliament In 2017

The people of St. Maarten expect a higher level of functioning from our Parliament in the New Year. Following a trial and error period of six years, our MPs should begin to raise the bar in 2017.

We expect our MPs, while on the floor of Parliament, to stick to the business at hand and not be carried away by personal or emotional circumstances. According to article 53 of the Constitution, parliamentarians should refrain from debating and voting on issues related to their person, their spouses or family members to the second degree.

Pond Island:--- TelEm Group technicians and engineers successfully restored internet service to Dutch St. Maarten at approximately 5:30 pm Thursday evening after effecting repairs to a fibre connection between the French side and the Dutch side of the island.

Thursday’s restoration comes after several failed attempts to fully restore the service following a major outage Sunday.
